Library & Information Service of the University of Patras in cooperation with The British Council of Greece organized the workshop on :
in Patras, Greece, 15-16 May 2000.
During this two-days event, current trends in Quality Evaluation Mechanisms of Libraries' Electronic Resources were presented and analyzed. Topics discussed during the various plenary sessions and workshops, were on:
- Quality in Digital Libraries
- Performance Indicators for Library Electronic Services
- Collection Mechanisms for Qualitative & Quantitative Statistical Data
- Electronic Services Performance & Usage Evaluation
- Planing & development of Library Electronic Services
About 40 librarians and information experts from Greek Academic & Research Libraries that have developed Electronic Services for their users, attended the workshop aiming to transfer to the Greek Libraries the European experience & knowledge in the fields of Electronic Resources Evaluation Mechanisms, and also to promote current and future Digital Libraries Development efforts in Greece.
SPEAKERS - LECTURERS
- Zoe Clarke
Zoe Clarke is a Senior Research Fellow in the Centre for Research in Library and Information Management (CERLIM), in the Department of
Information and Communications at Manchester Metropolitan University, UK. She is currently Co-ordinator of the EC funded EQUINOX project
which will develop performance indicators and management software for the electronic library environment. Her previous work in the
performance measurement field was on the EC EQLIPSE and CAMILE projects. Previous to that she worked in UK academic libraries.
- Juliet Eve
Juliet Eve, joined CERLIM as a Research Fellow in April 1999 and is currently principal researcher on the VITAL project, looking at the
value and impact of access to IT based services in public libraries. Her previous research experience includes an investigation of privacy
issues in the marketplace (1995); a study of approaches to national information policy making (1996-7); and an evaluation of the impact of
Croydon Online, a public library led community website in south London (1997-8).
